COVID-19 Mitigation Practices
I strongly believe that transparent and thorough Covid precautions are a critical element in minimizing risk to my clients, keeping myself well, and standing in support and solidarity with disabled and immunocompromised communities. This means I am still upholding Covid safety precautions above and beyond CDC recommendations.
When determining my precautions for decreasing risk to myself and others, I acknowledge that vaccines, quality filter masks, physical distance, limiting number of contacts, frequent testing and self-initiated contact tracing are all important components for holistic and reliable precautions for individuals and communities, and that different people have different access to each of these components of risk mitigation.
Here's a quick review of my approach:
My Personal Protocols
- I received the 2 Initial Covid vaccinations in 2020/2021 and ongoing updated annual vaccines. I most recently had the Annual 2024/2025 season Moderna and Annual Flu vaccine in Sept 2024.
- I had 1 MPX vaccine in Sept 2022.
- I diligently wear a high quality mask (with N95, KN95 or P100 respirator) while in shared indoor spaces and in public outdoor spaces. I limit my time in unmasked indoor spaces.
- I test for covid at home with a molecular test (similar to a PCR) or multiple rapid tests about once a week, sometimes more
- I regularly share air (mutual unmasking) with chosen family and close friends whose masking and testing practices align with mine. We communicate test results and any change in our usual practice so we can mask up if additional risk has occured
- I will occasionally share air (mutual unmasking) with people after they have also following the masking guidelines above for 3+ days, and after a negative home molecular test (similar to a PCR)
- If myself or anyone I recently shared air with is experiencing any symptoms or tests positive, we will reschedule any in person hours and I will be tested before returning
I am happy to speak about this more individually, and I thank you for helping keep our community safe.
